  9. I don't know if this is the recipe that the person was looking for but 
  10. it sounds like it.

  12. 2 cups sugar
  13. 1 cup light corn syrup
  14. dash salt
  15. 1/2 cup water
  16. 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
  17. 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  18.  
  19. Combine sugar, syrup, salt and water in a saucepan. Heat slowly, 
  20. stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves, then cook, stirring, until 
  21. mixture reaches 300 on a candy thermometer (a tsp of syrup will 
  22. separate into brittle threads when dropped into cold water).

  24. Stir in food coloring and extract until blended; remove from heat.

  26. Drop from tip of a teaspoon onto well oiled cookie sheets to make 1 1/2 
  27. inch rounds,or spoon into well oiled 1 1/2 inch molds. If syrup hardens 
  28. while shaping drops, heat slowly until just melted.

  30. Cool on cookie sheets or in molds until firm, then remove carefully 
  31. with spatula.
